Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept reservations?
We do not take reservations at this time, but we do plan private events for large parties. If you are not planning an event but are bringing a larger group, we appreciate a phone call "head's up" earlier in the day.
Which days are available for events?
We schedule events Monday thru Thursday.
What is included in the space?
Exclusive use of the space and furniture. Wi-Fi is available during your event.
What are the minimum and maximum number of guests for an event? How many guests can fit in the venue?
We start our events at 20 people. Our indoor dining room can seat 45 people. Our patios can accommodate up to 50. Our Yard (amphitheater) has seating for 100, but can accommodate much larger groups standing, or with additional seating. The brewery patio can seat 50 outdoors.
What food is available?
We offer all of our pizzas in addition to an event-size menu. All food is setup buffet-style for parties over 20 people. Your menu must be finalized 14 days prior to your event.
Are table and chairs available for rent?
You are welcome to use our existing restaurant seating. We cannot move any furniture out of the space. We recommend using a third party to source additional chairs and tables for yard events. You, or your third-party vendor, are responsible for the setup and removal of additional furniture by the agreed upon end of your event. We simply expect the restaurant to be returned to the way you found it.
Can I bring my own alcohol or outside food?
No. Neighbor's Kitchen & Yard carries a mixed beverage license. By law, no outside alcoholic beverages may be brought onto the property. We are also responsible for all foods served in our establishment meeting health codes even if we didn't prepare it, so we have had to implement a no outside foods policy.
What about a custom birthday cake?
The one rare exception to the outside food rule is commercially prepared (not homemade) custom cakes. We cannot store it in our walk-in cooler so please make arrangements to keep it cool. Please plan to bring your own paper/plasticware and any serving pieces needed. Advance notice is required.
What about parking?
There is a dirt lot at the north end, a city lot at the south end of the buildings. After 5pm, parking is available in the adjacent Wells Fargo lot. You can find parking lots throughout the historic downtown area.
Is there a loading and unloading area?
Yes. All loading and unloading must be planned and scheduled with our event coordinator. We are not the only ones who use that area.
How late can music play at Neighbors?
All outdoor amplified music must be completed by midnight.
Can we bring in our own decorations? What about candles?
You may bring in your own table decor, such as floral arrangements, table linens, etc. All decorations must be installed in a way that does not damage our facility – no staples, tacks, glue guns, or nails. Candles, balloons and confetti are not allowed on the premises. Our building was built in 1918, so we have to be extra careful when it comes to open flames. We have recommendations for florists.
How many bathrooms are on site?
We have two bathrooms: one for men, one for women, each with 4 stalls. For yard events, we can also discuss bringing in additional port-o-johns for an additional fee.
Are there overnight accommodations nearby?
Yes, Neighbor's is located in Texas's most historic small town, downtown Bastrop. We are just 1 mile from many hotel and bed & breakfast options including: Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Quality Inn, and Pecan Street Inn. Hyatt Lost Pines resort is located 8 miles west of Neighbor's.
How do I book the space?
In order to book a date, a signed agreement and deposit are required. Fill out the event form to get the process started.
Are there any other expenses associated with renting the space?
A gratuity will be charged to all food and beverages served. Depending on the event size and timing, we may also charge a fee for the space, opening a second bar, or other dedicated personnel or services requested or required. We have a curated list of music/bands for bookings available upon request.
